Fundación Loma Quita Espuela, Inc. (FLQE) is a private, nonprofit organization, founded on March 22, 1990.

The motivation for creating the FLQE was the need to protect the natural resources of the reserve Loma Quita Espuela. FLQE's mission is to develop actions to ensure a balance between conservation and wise use of natural resources of the reserve Loma Quita Espuela and improving the quality of life in communities directly linked to the Reserve.

The methodology implemented in the institution is participatory where communities are part of the decision-making together with the management of the Foundation.

The main ideologues were Dr.Alfonso Moreno Martínez, our first president, Dr.Johannes Hager, from the German Development Service (DED), Dr. Ramón Ovidio Sanchez, Tony Santos, agronomist of the Secretary of State for Agriculture (SEA) and Ing Jose Marcano, National University Pedro Enriquez Urena (UNPHU).

This team developed the Management Plan of Loma Quita Espuela, which is the proposal to handle this area with components of Sustainable Agriculture, Community Education, Forest Production and Conservation and Management of rainforest in the area.
